How to Choose Running Clothes
Although running clothes don't need to be fancy, choosing the right ones can make your runs more comfortable and enjoyable.
Of course the most important part of your running outfit is your running sneakers. The best running shoes fit your foot properly and provide the support that your foot needs. If you're fairly new to running, purchase your running shoes at your local running store, where you'll get the expert help you need to find the proper fit and style. An online running shoe store or discount running shoes store are good options if you're an experienced runner and know which running shoes fit you best. Once you've got the running shoes figured out, it's time to browse through the womens running clothes and find some womens running shorts (or running pants or running tights, if you live in a colder climate), short sleeve and long sleeve running shirts, running socks, and of course a running sports bra. A running jacket, a hat and gloves, and a pair of sunglasses can be added to your running wardrobe as needed. When shopping for womens running clothes, you want to look for synthetic fabrics that breathe and wick the sweat away from your body. Running stores carry a wide variety of running shirts and running shorts made from these synthetic materials. They may cost a little more than a plain old T-shirt, but they'll be worth it in the long run. Clothes made from cotton are not a good choice, as they tend to get sweaty and don't dry quickly. For summer running, look for light-colored and loose-fitting running clothes. Dark colored clothing tends to absorb heat, and tight-fitting clothing can cause chafing. As the weather cools down, add layers that you can easily remove as you get warmed up. Waterproof gloves, a moisture-wicking hat, and a good lip balm will help make winter runs more enjoyable. Your choice of running socks is important, since your feet take such a pounding when you run. Look for socks that are made from a synthetic blend, not 100% cotton. Again, unlike cotton, a synthetic blend will help keep your feet dry, which will in turn prevent blisters from forming. If you tend to run in the early morning or late evening, investing in some reflective tape or reflective clothing items that will help drivers see you in low light condition is highly recommended. If you usually go for your run mid-day, a good pair of running sunglasses will help protect your eyes from sun damage, as well as protect the delicate eye area from wrinkles. And remember to always use a sunscreen, preferably a water-resistant sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or more.
