Fitness Equipment Reviews

Fitness equipment reviews is a must-read if you plan on working out at home rather than joining a gym. A home gym is perfect if you don't live near a gym or don't have the time to drive to one. It's also a great place to start working out if you have a lot of weight to lose and going to the gym feels intimidating. A few pieces of exercise equipment - and they don't have to be expensive! - along with a few hand weights and a couple of exercise videos can get you started on your road to good health.

So what are the best pieces of exercise equipment? The fitness equipment reviews on these pages will help you find the best home exercise equipment for your workout - and within your budget. You'll find fitness equipment reviews on everything from the traditional, such as treadmills, elliptical trainers, and dumb bells, to the not-so-common, including TRX Suspension Training and kettlebells.

Little Black Dress Fitness Equipment Reviews:

Adjustable Dumbbells: This handy piece of equipment takes the place of a whole slew of fixed-weight dumbbells, saving money and space. PowerBlock, Bowflex, and Bayou all offer a variety of heavy, durable, compact, and easy-to-use quick-change dumbbells that can expand to meet your ever-changing strength needs.

Elliptical Machines: Elliptical trainers are a great way to get an overall body workout because you use all of the large muscle groups in both the upper and lower body. Elliptical machines are of particular benefit to those of you with bad knees because they don't put excessive stress on joints or muscles.

Exercise Ball: An exercise ball does double-duty: not only does it give you a great ab workout, it's also the perfect stand-in for an exercise bench. Just make sure you choose the best exercise ball for your workouts.

Exercise Band: Exercise bands work much like the cable machines at the gym, but take up a lot less space. They also take up less space than traditional dumbbells, so if you’re interested in strength training but are short on space, exercise band workouts may be the perfect solution.

Jump Ropes: All those boxers can't be wrong! A jump rope is a simple, inexpensive way to get a great cardio workout. All you need is a little bit of space - in front of your TV is ok! - and a quality jump rope.

Kettlebells: Get your heart pumping with a kettlebell workout. A kettlebell is a Russian type of hand weight that has been used for hundreds of years to build muscle, lose fat, and increase endurance.

Medicine Balls: These weighted balls are a fun way to "play" while working out! Whether you toss one with your workout buddy, or do some creative exercises on your own, medicine balls are a great way to increase both your muscle strength and your cardio endurance.

Pull Up/Push Up Bars: Simple, basic exercises are a great way to get in shape. Pull up and push up bars allow you to get the full benefit of these exercises right in your own living room.

Recumbent Bikes: Recumbent bikes provide the same great cardio workout that upright bikes do. The only difference is that you are seated in a reclining position rather than an upright position, and your lower back is supported by the seat.

Rowing Machines: Rowing machines will give you an all-over workout, but it does take a little practice to coordinate the rowing action. Very little stress is placed on the joints, so this is another good workout for anyone with back or knee issues.

Stability Balls: A stability ball lets you do a variety of exercises on an unstable surface, which makes your muscles, especially the core muscles, work harder.

Stationery Bikes: An upright stationary bike is perfect for an intense cardiovascular workout with no impact. Start out slow if you haven't worked out much lately, then increase the resistance and intensity to continually challenge yourself.

Stair Steppers: Stairs steppers are a great way to work the lower body while getting a cardio workout. Looking much like a never-ending escalator, stair steppers allow you to walk the steps, or increase the speed until you're at a full run.

Treadmills: Run - or walk - in the privacy of your home, in front of the TV, no matter what the weather is! Running is a simple and easy way to lose weight, and a good treadmill makes it even easier.

TRX Suspension Training: The TRX is a lightweight, portable fitness system that lets you perform over three hundred exercises using your body weight for resistance.
