Fitbit Tracker
The Fitbit Tracker is a new device that claims to "...inspire people to exercise more, eat better and live a healthier lifestyle" by "...automatically collecting data about a person’s daily activities and presenting this data in a motivating and entertaining way."
The Fitbit monitoring device contains a motion sensor like the ones found in the Nintendo Wii, which senses your motion in three dimensions and converts this into useful information about your daily activities. The Tracker measures the intensity and duration of your physical activities, calories burned, steps taken, distance traveled, how long it took you to fall asleep, the number of times you woke up throughout the night and how long you were actually asleep vs. just lying in bed. You wear the Tracker loosely in your pocket or clipped to your clothing - even bras - or slip it into the provided wristband that you can wear while you sleep. The device automatically uploads the accumulated data into the base station, which in turn sends the data to the Fitbit website. Access your data on the website, and enter your daily food choices as well in order to track your daily calorie intake. The device, which comes with the overnight wristband and access to the Fitbit website, retails for $99.
